I can't believe my baby is three! Where has the time gone?

Jakes First Day of School!

Jake started preschool today! He was soooo super excited he gets to go to school! He loved wearing the backpack and going to Sarah's house.

So, this is not what I woulda chosen for him to wear on his FIRST day of school EVER. He has a definite idea of what he thinks looks good. I had to say to myself several times "Let it go, Denise, let it go. It is not worth the fight!"

I am so super excited for preschool this year. I am doing a JOY school with 5 of my absolute favorite moms in the whole world! What a fun year this will be!

Soarin' to New Heights!

Olivia decided she wanted to run for "Mayor" of Biztown. Biztown is a field trip they are having in a few weeks. There has been all kinds of preparatory work for it. One thing they do beforehand is hold an election of sorts. It was similar to running for student counsel.

Olivia ran against 15 other kids for 1 mayor spot. I was super worried that she would be disappointed if she didn't get it. She did not win, but the awesome part about it is the people that ran get first pick at their jobs in biztown!

I have to say...and I may be a little partial...but I think Olivias speech/campaign was the cutest. Her whole campaign was around an airline theme...and she dressed like a pilot for her speech. We made little candy airplanes that she passed out in school (which she was only allowed to pass out after school because the wings were a piece of gum. WTH!) Her little posters were darling! She did am ah-mah-zing job delivering her speech. It was great practice for her in the public speaking realm, as she has been asked to give a talk in sacrament meeting as part of the primary program. BTW...I can't believe how readily she said yes to speaking in sacrament. I am terrified of speaking in sacrament meeting. She is excited. Not sure where she gets it from. It certainly is not from Zane or me.

Anywhoo, we are so proud of you Olivia for having the courage to do this. I wanted to run for student counsel in grade school, but didn't think I would win and then worried how I would look if I lost. Olivia never was too upset she didn't win...just disappointed.

Love ya girly-girl! I wish I took more chances like this when I was young!

A is for Ant...Preschool at Ms. Denise's

4 a-a-ants. Jake opted out of the art project.
Thankfully Jake opted in the eating part. (He gets this trait from me.)
REALLY proud of her ant!
Loves that her ant "wears a necklace"! ToO CuTe!!!

Jake wanted absolutely nothing to do with workbook time. There may have been a tantrum when I tried to make him do it. Little Turkey! Not sure what to do with him? He has ZERO attention span . My friends keep telling me it is because he is a boy.

BTW, Jake is being evaluated in a few weeks for the schools speech therapy program. Fingers crossed he will get in.

Organ Stop Birthday Party

We had a family birthday party for all three of my kiddos. We went to Organ Stop Pizza, a favorite of the kids! I let Jake pick the cupcakes since it was closest to his birthday. My teeth were blue for three days after one of the cupcakes! The kids loved dancing to the organ music! Sooo Cute! Thanks everyone for the great time!

I Got My Big Boy Pants On...

I finally felt this week that the time was right to potty train Jake. So, I am sure some people think I am a slacker for waiting so long. After the ordeal of potting training Olivia, I decided I wouldn't do it again until my kids are three-ish. Jake will be three next week, so the time has arrived.

The first day was a nightmare. I just about gave up. He only made it twice. There was crying. Some by me. Jacob rolled himself up in the fetal position and cried himself to sleep "no potty, no potty mommy!" I decided to give it a second day before I called it quits and it went much better. Today was day three. I ventured out of the house. Only one oops today (and this was on Zane's shift).

The upside for waiting until my kids are three...well at least when Olivia and Zach were concerned...is that once they were potty trained, they were 100% potty trained. No accidents. None. Not ever.

Don't disappoint me Jacob.

I would have loved to post some cute pics of Jacob sitting on the potty and wearing his big boy pants, but there are too many pervs out there. My blog isn't private. So we will have to settle with the picture of Jacob pretending to go to school with Zach's school stuff.

Basha Pool

Why don't we have any fun pools like this on our side of town? Thanks for inviting us Gardo's. We had a blast...except for the part when we lost Jake.

Yah, we took our eyes off of him for a minute and he was gone. We were frantically searching around the pool, as he doesn't swim. We found him like 5 minutes later. On a whim I decided to go look in the parking lot. Once I started looking for Jake out there I ran into Zane doing the same. Some super nice people found him and were bringing him back. They said he just took off running and never looked back. Apparently he was headed through the parking lot to the street. What a relief when we found him safe and sound. I am so thankful to the people who found him...I wish I had expressed my gratitude a little better that night!

I think Jake has a guardian angel.
